Project goal was to use our knowledge of digital mediums to create a new currency with themes relating to a culture or a story through imagery and background.

In this project I decided to create currency dedicated to the fictional world of H.P Lovecraft's books. 

The background is that of a city called Marblehead Maine. there is a great spilt in the earth surface their dividing the city down the middle leaving the two sides; Marblehead North, and Marblehead, South. Within the two sides are two groups that run the areas local economy. One ran by the richest family named the Throgmorton family while the other is ran by the local bank called The Bank of Ryloth.  

Phase one: Pattern and background

We started the project by creating backgrounds for our bills and brainstorming what they would kid of look like. I chose to do a very texturized background with a brooding color style to match the horror and sci fi element.

Phase two: Bill design and layout

I started making the actual bills through procreate after trying to make it connect more with the story and feel somewhat familiar to US currency. I wanted it to look reused ore printed over as if it was used before in another time as currency.

Phase Three: Progress on the bills

I mainly used the US Dollar bill as the base and muted the colors. I took symbols that are featured and written about in his books and made them the focus of the bills.
